A U.S House of Representatives subcommittee approved a new legislation that would expand the already-existing federal law and would ban online gambling. The new ban will prevent online casinos from accepting payments (credit cards, wire and Internet transfers etc.) and will also prohibit gambling on 2,300 Internet gambling sites.
The new bill was approved by the House Judiciary subcommittee on crime and since then shares of online gaming companies in the London Stock Exchange started to fall. Because of the congressional elections in November, the Congress has a short schedule, therefore it is not sure yet whether the new bill will reach floor votes in the House of Representatives and the Senate.
