UK Organizations Against Super Casinos

Local churches oppose the intention to enlarge the number of permitted slots casinos in England.

UK church and faith organizations are protesting against the possibility of building a super casino in their towns. According to the 2005 gambling act, only one super casino can be build in each region. Now the government is considering enlarging the number of permitted super casinos.

Major Bill Cochrane, of The Salvation Army is encouraging local organization to protest against the possibility of casinos. The former Salvation Army campaign, along side the Methodist Church had a success in limiting the number of super casinos.

The organizations are mainly worried of the plan to allow 1,250 big jackpot machines, which were proved to be addictive and to cause an increase in the number of gambling addicts.
