The Me-Wuk Indian tribe is trying again to convince Amador County's governor's office to approve their plans for a casino in the county. Their plan was first rejected last year after they failed to include the impact on the surrounding area.
The tribe hired an environmental consulting firm and started again to re-think their plans for a $200 million casino near Ione.
The tribe is proposing a 70,000 square foot casino that will house over 2,000 slot machines and about 80 gambling tables. More than that, the casino will have five restaurants, meeting spaces, lounges and an entertainment venue.
