Tories change their opinion and support more than one super-casino in the UK.

The conservative party is considering changing its previous policy and to support more than one super-casino in the UK. Later this month, the Tories will hold a seminar to discuss this possibility after intense lobbying from Conservative-controlled authorities who are eager to enjoy the fruits of the casinos revenues.

The Tories forced the Labour to cut the number of planned super-casinos from eight to one and this change in their standpoint has a big importance. Tories representatives explained that a large number of local authorities want to take advantage of the investment potential of the super-casinos but the effect of unlimited Las Vegas-style casinos on the surrounding s in not clear yet, yet it's essential that the government will stick to a proper pilot scheme to evaluate the impacts of such a move.
Over 40 local authorities applied for a license to host casinos. The casinos are planned to be opened 24 hours a day and to hold up to 1,250 slot machines. Opponents of the super-casinos fear escalation of problem gambling if more casinos will be approved by the government.
