2005 is the second consecutive year in which Station Casinos was named one of the 100 Best Companies to Work for by Fortune magazine. Station Casinos is the only gaming company that has entered this list. It also was in the middle of the large companies section, ranked 14th out of 38. The number one Best Company to Work for this year was Genatech, a Bay Area biotech firm.

The 100 Best Companies to Work for list is compiled for Fortune magazine by San Francisco Great Place to Work Institute researchers Robert Levering and Milton Moskovitz. The institutes techniques are used to evaluate corporate culture, company polices, employee opinion. The latter is the most important factor that forms three thirds of the grade.

A 57-item questionnaire that covers issues from the general job satisfaction to demographics, benefits and pays, was given to 400 out of 11,000 Station Casinos employees.

Station Casinos was first recognized by Great Place to Work institute when it started its programs to facilitate US citizenship among employees that included clinics, ESL classes and bilingual employee hotline.
