Like most gambling addicts who pray for that big win to allow them to make up their losses his never came.

On September 14th the former president and coach of the San Marcos Girls Softball League was arrested for stealing $40,000 to help feed his gambling addiction.

Yesterday the man was sentenced to 90 days in jail by a Superior Court judge, after the man pleaded guilty in court a month ago to felony charges of grand theft.

The judge said that the man had "betrayed the confidence of hundreds of girls between the ages of 5 and 16 in the nonprofit fast-pitch league that was pushed to the brink of insolvency," also adding %u201CHe was put in a position of trust and he violated that trust."

The judge added in his sentence that the 90 days will be served on the weekends so that the man can continue to work to pay back the money he stole from the league and allowing him time to seek counseling.

The money was discovered missing last year when one of the leagues officials was going over the leagues bookkeeping and discovered inaccuracies from August 2004 to November 2005.

The mans lawyer said that he had taken the money to feed his gambling addiction and intended to pay it all back once he got his big win. The lawyer also said that the man had already paid back $14,000 and will pay of the balance of $28,000 at a rate of $777.77 a month.
