Howard Lederer, Chris Ferguson and Greg Raymer, three professional poker players called the Congress to reject three bills that try to forbid U.S citizens from playing poker in online casinos. The bills require banks to monitor customers' money transactions in order to stop using overseas gambling websites. The players said that there is no reason that poker is legal in U.S casinos while it's illegal online.
the bill, sponsored by the Virginia Republican Representative Bob Goodlatte, wishes to allow courts to order ISPs to shut down access to gambling sites. While those who oppose the bill blame it for being 'censorship', Goodlatte said it would simply give states tools to enforce existing laws and to regulate online gambling.
The three poker pros are backed up by the Poker Players Alliance, which represents 20,000 poker players, called poker an American game that requires more skill than most forms of gambling while brining diverse groups of people together.
