Detectives of the Manatee County Sheriff's Office are still investigating a local business that may be involved in running an illegal casino on its premises.

The police are looking into the Prepaid Internet an internet cafe on the 5100 block of 14th Street West. The business was formerly known as the Players Club, and was shut down several months ago after the police raided 16 businesses for the exact same charges.

All games of chance that offer prizes of value like cash are illegal in Manatee County; the games are only legal if they are played strictly for fun or maybe free games.

During the month of September on three different occasions undercover police entered the business acting as customers to see if illegal activities were taking place, according to the warrant.

So far nothing has been confiscated and no one has been arrested according to the sheriffs office spokesman, the investigation will continue, but the business will be allowed to continue to remain open until the investigation is concluded.
