A recent survey that was conducted by the American Gaming Association found that the number of Americans who gambled online doubled to 4% in 2005.
The study also found a growth of about 5% in gambling revenue in the U.S especially for companies like Harrah's Entertainment, MGM Mirage Inc. and others who contribute to the growing popularity of casino cities like Las Vegas and Atlantic City.
The report claims that Americans are turning to online gambling despite the confusion about the legality of online casinos. The main reason that people use online betting sites, according to the study is because they are convenient.
Gambling revenue increased in the last years both in the U.S and the world. Internet gambling generated about $12 billion in revenue last year; about 50% of it came from American citizens.
About 25% of the American who are 21 or older visited a casino 6.1 times last year. This result indicates a rise, since last year the percentage stood on 5.9%.
