Petra Krainova, Czech Finance Ministry spokeswoman, informed that last year people spend a record CZK 50 billion on gambling machines which is a growth of 4.5% from last year. Krainova also said that the number of gambling machines increased by 2,438 and now stands on 52,185.
There were 450 companies who received a license to operate gambling machines last year. The operators of the gambling machines paid CZK 3.2 billion to the 2,500 municipalities where the machines are placed. Over CZK 500 million was contributed for projects that benefit the public.
Krainova informed that Prague has 7,112 gambling machines, while Moravskoslezksy region (in Moravia) has 6,278. Stredocesky region in central Bohemia has around 5,600 and in Jihomoravsky region there are over 5,200 gambling machines. Pardubicky region has the least amount of machines, around 1,840 machines.
