From next year, travelers flying with Ryanair will be able to use mobile phone from their seats during the flights. The airline, which turns over a revenue of some 1.7 billion Euro per year is also planning to offer mobile gambling services to their travelers.
Today, there are companies who experiment with a technology that connects mobiles using on-board transmitters and satellites. Ryanair's executives said that this mobile phone and gambling service could be in operation by next year.
Other airlines, like Air France and BMI are also considering using this in-flight mobile service.
A very important consideration that airlines must face is the backlash from the other passengers on the plane who are irritated at having people shouting and talking on their phones while sitting besides them on the plane.
