A pool hall in Athens Georgia was raided after an undercover investigation revealed illegal slots ga

According to the police it was not the food or the great billiards experience at the Brass Rail that was packing the place on a nightly basis; it was the illegal slot machines.

Slot machine gambling is legal in Georgia, but only if the payout is a novelty item and must be worth less then $5, and according to the undercover officer some people were winning jackpots over $1,000.

No one has been arrested yet, but the prosecutors are still looking over the evidence and deciding if charges can be made against any of the pool hall?s employees.

The police stormed the pool hall at about 12:30 Sunday night. They confiscated 6 of the illegal slot machines and over $10,000 in cash.

The Police also raided the home of the pool halls owner, where they also confiscated a large sum of cash.

The officer in charge is expected to appear before a judge to ask for an arrest warrant for the owner of the pool hall and at least one other unidentified person.

Charges may include Commercial Gambling, which is a felony in Georgia and can come with a 5 year jail sentence and a $20,000 fine.

An undercover vice unit is currently investigating at least a half a dozen other locations in Athens that are suspected of also having illegal slot payouts.
