A multi state online gambling ring was busted this week after a 2 year investigation

More then 20 people have been arrested and several corporations, across four different states have had charges made against them relating to a billion dollar a year gambling web site.

According to the spokesmen for the Queens district attorney one of the corporations was an offshore internet company owned by an American based company.

The spokesman said "this is the first time that a web designer and the company that maintained the web site have been charged"

Police have made arrests in Florida Nevada, New York and New Jersey. The way it worked was you accessed a secure web site and placed bets with an actual bookie in the states.

These are the first charges to be made on internet related gambling since President Bush signed the Unlawful Internet Gambling Act in October

The police are not releasing the names of anyone being charged in these crimes for now.

Besides arrests being made in four different states, they are also starting a 500 million dollar forfeiture suite which will be one of the largest in the states history.

The charges were finally made only after an intense 2 year investigation on internet gambling.

Besides those who were arrested the police also confiscated artwork, jewelry, gold coins and sports memorabilia.
