Professor Peter Collins, the director at the Centre of Study of Gambling at the University of Salford, claims that a local casino would benefit the Welsh economics. He believes that a casino in Cardiff would profit about 120 million sterling pounds. Professor Collins is currently concentrates on teaching and researching on the topics of ethics and gambling, problem gambling and internet gambling,
If the Government approves suggesting Cardiff as a location for a local casino, it will attract large-scale investments that would help fund the 2012 Olympic Games. The UK-Australian organization Aspers is one of the names suggested by the council as potential operators for the planned local casino.
Aspers had started collaborating with Cardiff community leaders to raise awareness to responsible gambling. The Community Action for Responsible Gaming will include representatives from local churches, interfaith organizations, Cardiff Council and the police.
