Knowing the history of Baccarat will not help you play better but you may find it interesting

The History Of Baccarat

The debate of who created the game of Baccarat is heating up between Italy and France.

The Italian origin is claimed on the basis of a mythological Etruscan ritual involving 9 gods who required the blonde tribal virgin to throw some dice. The virgin had specific roles to play based on the number that showed up in the dice.  She had to walk in to the sea for a number less than 6, for 6 or 7 she was to be exempted from any further religious rituals.  For numbers 8 or 9 she would become a priestess.

The claim for the French origin was attributed to the linguistics where the term Baccarat used in French meant zero in English and the same was true in Italian.  The argument is still on; however, who cares!

The French variation of Baccarat is known as “Chemin De Fer.”  There are also other variations like American Baccarat, European Baccarat etcetera.  Each of these regional variations is played with slight differences in the rules.  So, you got to learn the regional dust in the variants before you start with them.

Baccarat was indeed a high roller game and in a way to make this game accessible for low stake plays, the mini-baccarat came in to being. The basic concepts of the game are the same with a slight difference in each variation.  When you get used to the differences in the rules you will be able to customize your strategies within your skill level.
