Craps Etiquette and Behavior Codes
Craps etiquette is a matter of consideration if you are planning to play this game. Although they are less common in casinos than other games there are avid craps players who are very serious about their game and won't tolerate any rude behavior near the craps table.
If you are planning to play craps at the casino here are some basic behavior codes that you must follow:
- Learn the rules of the game before you join the table and start playing. The dealers cannot teach you the rules during the game since it disrupts the play and annoys the other players.
- Do not comment on bets that were made by other players. Don't criticize or offer to help other players with advises. Try not to interact with other players but merge and blend in with the game.
- Respect the table and the game. Don't lean on the table and don't put drinks on it. Usually there's a special place for drinks underneath the table, if you can't find it, ask someone where you can put it or watch where other players put it.
- It's customary to tip the dealers, especially if they are being helpful. You can do it by placing chips on the table and saying that it's "for the house" or "for the table". You can also place a bet for them, preferably on the pass line.
- Try to shoot the dice in that way that they will hit the back of the table at the other hand. If the dice won't rebound from the back of the table, the dealers might ask you to throw it again. Try not to knock over the chips while throwing and definitely don't throw the dice off the table.
- You can remove or add your bet anytime, but not when the shooter is about to throw or during the pass and come bets while you cannot exceed the maximum bet.
