If you have ever watched people playing blackjack in a casino you will know that when someone who does not know how to play properly sits at their table they will get annoyed. The reason for this is because it is a popularly held belief that by knot knowing when to hit or stay you may take a card that was meant for the next player or you may give a card to the next player that he feels you should have taken, and that you not playing correctly is effecting his chances of winning.

The truth is that this is false. There are just the same number of times that you may a card you need, when someone has taken "your card" as when the player before you has done exactly what you feel he should do.

If by playing by your rules you get a better chance of winning then more people would be going home rich and the casinos would all go broke.

There is some skill involved in blackjack, but ultimately it is luck whether or not you get blackjack or bust. For the most part the skill part comes from knowing when your odds are better and know when to bet big and when to lay off a bit. The actual card playing is really just guess work.

So in the end the new player does not change the odds and will help you win the exact same amount of hands as he helps you lose as you would have done without him at the table.
