Most people in the casinos are able to lose with grace. You can see them sitting at the table games or the slot machines playing hand after hand and showing no signs of stress or aggravation. These people understand that gambling is a risk and that chances are you are going to lose much more then you will win. Unfortunately for themselves not everyone in the casino understands this fact.
After losing what he felt was an unfair amount of money playing the slot machines at the Tampa Hard Rock and Casino two nights ago, Gutierrez decided to call the police and complain that the casino had robbed him, so he picked up a phone and dialed 9-11.
It was just after midnight on Monday morning when Gutierrez called 911, and complained that he lost all his money from the casinos Slot machines. The 911 dispatcher made Gutierrez aware that loosing all your money gambling in a licensed casino does not constitute a crime and that the only crime he can see that has been committed is Gutierrez calling 911. It is illegal to call 911 for non emergency related issues.
Upon the officer explaining that he could be arrested for calling 911, Gutierrez apologized and hung up the phone. Unfortunately he just could not stay off the phone for long and called back several minutes later from outside the casino, and re-reported that he had been robbed by the casino.
This time instead of giving him another warning the officer dispatched a patrol car to his location and he was arrested. After his arrest, police found that Gutierrez was on probation for a prior felony and was held without bail.
